Nicholson Inn, conveniently located in the heart of Freeport, Maine offers all the amenities a traveler could desire.

The Nicholson Inn has long been known for its convenience, quality and comfort. We are located in the heart of Freeport’s shopping-restaurant district and less than 500 steps from LL Bean.

This home has been a Freeport landmark since 1925. Norman and Martha Nicholson acquired the building in 1930 and for some 25 years it was a well-known “overnight guest home”. The tradition is being carried on by their granddaughter Jane and her husband Alden. Working with love and respect for the Inn’s architectural integrity, the Grants have renovated and modernized the facility, giving careful thought to providing the maximum amount of comfort and convenience guests could imagine.

Constant comments from guests, many of who have been returning for 15 years, compliment the delicious, full “Down-Maine” breakfasts and the warm and friendly atmosphere of the Inn. Jane and Alden are Maine natives who are able to share travel-tips with their guests and often point them to some of the “lesser-known jewels” Maine has to offer.
